Gardai arrest man 'covered in blue paint' after bank holiday burglary in Cork city

A young man "covered in blue paint" was arrested following a bank holiday burglary in Cork city.

A man was seeing climbing up scaffolding attached to a building along the South Mall at around 9pm on Monday.

Gardai rushed to the scene and found a man in the reception of a premises covered in paint.

The suspect, in his 20s, was arrested in connection with the burglary at a building in the area.

Gardai say blue paint was found smeared on the walls in several rooms inside the premises.

The man was due to appear before Mallow District Court on Tuesday morning in relation to the investigation.

A spokesman said: "At around 9pm Gardaí received a report that man was seen climbing up scaffolding on the South Mall.

"Gardaí attended and found a man, covered in blue paint, in the reception area.

Gardaí searched the rest of the building and discovered that blue paint had been put on the walls in several rooms.

"The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested and is due to appear before Mallow District Court this morning."
