Gardai arrest man as haul of cannabis found at house in Skibbereen, Co Cork

Gardai have arrested a man after almost €15,000 worth of cannabis was found at a house in Skibbereen.

A total of €14,400 worth of suspected cannabis herb and cannabis resin was located at a house in the West Cork town after a search on Monday afternoon.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the seizure but has since been released without charge and a file will now be sent to the DPP, Cork Beo reports.

A garda spokesperson said: "Shortly after 2.30pm, Gardaí from the West Cork Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house in Skibbereen. During the course of the search Gardaí seized €13,600 worth of suspected cannabis herb and €860 worth of suspected cannabis resin, which will now be sent for analysis.

"A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and brought to Bandon Garda Station. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been released. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions."
