Gardai arrest man, 30s, after €110,000 of heroin and cocaine seized at Cork train station

Almost €110,000 worth of drugs were seized at one of Ireland's busiest train stations on Wednesday.

A man, in his 30s, was arrested after he was searched by gardai at Cork's Kent Station on Wednesday evening.

During the search €105,000 worth of heroin and €2,000 worth of cocaine was seized.

In a statement, gardai said: "As part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Mayfield area, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit in Cork City stopped and searched a man.

"During the course of the search, €105,000 worth of heroin and €2,000 worth of cocaine was seized. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.

"A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and brought to Mayfield Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996."
