Gardai arrest Longford motorist for drink driving after breaking speed limit by 37km/h

A motorist was arrested for failing a roadside breath test - after being caught smashing the speed limit.

The driver was stopped after they were clocked travelling at 97km/h in a 60km/h zone in Longford on Saturday evening.

The motorist then failed an alcohol breath test. Gardai said a second test found the driver was double the legal alcohol limit.

A garda tweet said: "Longford RPU detected a driver travelling at 97kph in a 60kph zone.

"Roadside breath test failed for alcohol.

"Driver arrested and subsequent station test found the driver was twice the legal limit. Court to follow."
