Gardai arrest five men and seize €6K of cocaine and prescription drugs worth €1K in Ennis, Co Clare

have launched a blitz against organised crime, arresting five men and seizing cocaine.

The move by gardai in Ennis, Co Clare, was focused on Operation Thor targets, the strategy is part of the garda’s fight against burglary gangs.

Raids were launched and a trawl of allegedly stolen tools, cocaine and prescription drugs were seized by gardai.

The searches were part of a multi agency day of action against criminals.

A spokesman said: “As part of Operation Thor, a day of action was carried out in the Ennis area today, Wednesday 24th of July.

“Gardaí conducted a number of searches and seized suspected stolen power tools, cocaine with an estimated street value of €6,000 (pending analysis), prescription drugs with a value of €1,000 and a large sum of cash.

“Five persons were arrested in connection with this investigation.

“The operation was carried out by local Gardaí along with members of the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit, Roads Policing Unit, Ennis Warrants Unit, Community Police, Western Region Armed Support Units and the Limerick Divisional Drugs Garda and Dog, officers from Customs, Department of Social Welfare and the Road Safety Authority (RSA).”
