Gardai arrest drink driver who had infant in unrestrained child seat in Co Wicklow

A man arrested on suspicion of drink driving had an infant in an unrestrained child seat.

Gardai in Co Wicklow confirmed that the child had been taken to safety and Tusla were notified.

The motorist is to be charged a fine of €400 and disqualified from driving for six months.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana Wicklow said: "This driver did not get the message. Gardai in Arklow arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving.

"He will be dealt with by way of Fixed Charge Penalty Notice, €400 fine and a 6 month disqualification. He also had an infant in this child seat, unrestrained.

"The child was taken to safety, Tusla were notified and a file is being prepared relating to this aspect of the case."
