Gardai in the midlands have arrested a driver and seized their car - after their decision quickly backfired.
Units have been out and about with a focus on speeding and drink-driving in the build up to Christmas, with the force set to launch their plan for the next decade on the roads later on Tuesday.
But one driver on Monday decided to risk it all and got caught for speeding.
A Garda statement explained: "Laois Roads Policing Unit were on duty today near Durrow.
"They stopped this vehicle for a speeding offence.
"The driver then gave false details to Gardaí and was discovered to be disqualified from driving."
The statement continued: "Driver arrested and charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court. Vehicle seized."

Gardai have already confirmed an increased focus on checkpoints in the build up to Christmas, with that set to continue this weekend.
