Gardai arrest and seize car from driver after their decision quickly backfires

Gardai in the midlands have arrested a driver and seized their car - after their decision quickly backfired.

Units have been out and about with a focus on speeding and drink-driving in the build up to Christmas, with the force set to launch their plan for the next decade on the roads later on Tuesday.

A Garda statement explained: "Laois Roads Policing Unit were on duty today near Durrow.

"They stopped this vehicle for a speeding offence.

"The driver then gave false details to Gardaí and was discovered to be disqualified from driving."

The statement continued: "Driver arrested and charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court. Vehicle seized."
