Gardai arrest and charge teen with breaching new coronavirus laws in Ballymun, North Dublin

A teenager has been arrested and charged with breaching the new coronavirus laws.

The man, 19, was arrested in Ballymun, north Dublin after alleged breaches of the Health Bill, 2020.

And the Director of Public Prosecutions on Friday morning recommended that he be charged in connection with the incident.

A spokesman said: “Gardaí in Ballymun have arrested and charged a man (19 years) this morning, Friday 24th April, 2020 after receiving directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions to charge this man in relation to breaches of Health (Preservation and Protection and other Emergency Measures in the Public Interest) Bill, 2020.

“The man is due to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice this morning in relation to four breaches of the Health Bill since it was enacted on 8th April, 2020. In relation to all the cases Gardaí did engage, educate, encourage and as a last resource did have to enforce.

“He is due to appear at Criminal Courts of Justice, at 10.30am.
