Several people have been arrested following a day of action focused on crime in Co Waterford on Wednesday.
A total of seventeen individuals were nabbed by gardai under the banner of Operation Storm.
Two properties in the county were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and arrests were made for offences including burglary, theft and drug possession.
Heroin worth €3,200 and cannabis worth €2,000 were discovered during searches.
Ten bench warrants and three arrest warrants were also executed during the day of action.
Three vehicles were seized for having no insurance or tax, with 11 checkpoints carried out at different locations.
Gardai say that the operation was conducted to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activity, apprehend criminals wanted on warrant, enhance road safety and bolster good public relations across Co Waterford.
As part of the operation:
- 17 Persons were arrested for various offences ranging from Burglary, Theft and Drugs.
- 2 Premises were searched under warrant in relation to Drugs.
- 7 People searched – under Misuse of Drugs Act.
- 2 Detections for Possession of Drugs for Sale and Supply.
- Heroin - €3,200. Cannabis - €2,000 (both pending analysis).
- 2 Detections for Simple Possession.
- 11 Crime Prevention and Intelligence gathering checkpoints were conducted.
- 30 Proactive Crime Prevention Beat Patrols were conducted.
- 10 Bench Warrants executed.
- 3 Arrest Warrants executed for breach of Court Curfews.
- 115 Summons were served.
- 16 Charges were preferred.
- 3 Crime Prevention Stands were conducted.
- 25 Curfew Checks were conducted.
