Gardai appealing for witnesses after 'unexplained death' of Darragh Sheehan outside hotel in Co Kerry

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the "unexplained death" of a young man in Kerry over the weekend.

Darragh Sheehan, 26, was found unconscious outside the Gleneagle Hotel on the Muckross Road in Killarney at around 11.40pm on Saturday.

He was later pronounced dead, with criminal investigation currently ongoing.

A post-mortem has since been completed, but the results will not be made public for "operational reasons".

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Killarney are continuing to appeal for anyone with information in relation to this matter to come forward.

"Gardaí are also appealing for any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Muckross Road area between 11pm and 11:45pm to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 6671160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."

Emotional tributes have been pouring in for the "lovely" 26-year-old who was from Doneraile in north Cork.

One mourner wrote: "Deepest sympathy to the Sheehan and O Sullivan Family. Darragh was a lovely young fella always a cheeky smile on his face. May he Rest in Peace."

While another added: "Darragh was a fine young man, always had a smile on his face.

"His parents, grandparents, sister, brother, fiancee, aunts and uncle I've no words for you all other than look after each other through this and the weeks and months ahead. May he rest in peace."
