Gardai appeal for witnesses to All-Ireland Final day crash that saw young man killed

Gardaí are renewing their appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious injury road traffic collision which saw a young man killed the day of the All-Ireland football final.

The collision happened on September 11 on the N2 in Edmontstown near Dooley’s Pub and Restaurant in Louth at around 8.20pm.

The 22-year-old motorcyclist was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where he died two days later.

September 11 was the same day as the All-Ireland football final between Mayo and Tyrone.

Gardaí believe many road users returning to Tyrone would have used the N2 travelling back from the match.

Any road users who were travelling on the N2 in the townland of Edmonstown, Louth on Saturday evening between 8pm and 8.30pm, who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6853222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
