Gardai appeal for witnesses after 'gang of 30 young men' flee scene of city centre disturbance

Gardai have launched an appeal for witnesses to a public order incident that saw a group of up to 30 men flee the scene of a Dublin gig over the weekend.

The incident unfolded at Lost Lane just off Grafton Street before the headline artist Naira Marley  took to the stage to perform at around 1am on Sunday morning.

A gang of up to 30 young men were seen fleeing the premises on Adam Court following a disturbance with security personnel.

Gardai are urging anyone who may have been on the premises at the time or has mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai are aware that a number of patrons of licensed premises in the area were present in a designated smoking area and may have witnessed the incident.

"Some of these persons may have taken mobile phone footage of the incident. This was also a busy time on Grafton Street in general.

"Gardai are appealing to any persons on Grafton Street, or in the Adam Court area, between 00:30hrs – 01:30hrs on 07 July 2019, in particular any person who has mobile phone footage from Adam Court or from the Grafton Street area in general during these times to come forward."

The spokesman added that gardai were satisfied the incident had no connection to the Longitude Festival, which took place on the same day.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardai at the Serious Crime Unit, Pearse Street garda station on 01-6669000, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
