Tallaght man found safe following missing persons appeal

UPDATE: John has been found safe - his family and gardai would like to thank everyone who helped locate him.

Gardai have sent an appeal after a 79-year-old went missing from his South Dublin home.

John Tyson was last seen in the Aylesbury area of Tallaght on Thursday and is described as about 5ft 3, medium build, with grey hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing a navy jumper, navy trousers, black shoes, and a brown jacket.

John left his home last night and driving a dark blue/grey Ford Focus with the red 07-D-60414.

His son Eugene says his phone has since been active in Blanchardstown, Blackrock, Ringend.

The device's last known location was in Athy in Co. Kildare at 11.45.

Anyone who has seen John or who can assist in locating him is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01-6666000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai wish to seek the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 79 year old John Tyson who is missing from his home in Tallaght, Dublin since Thursday the 17th of October 2019.

"He is described as being 5’3’’, of medium build, with grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a navy cardigan, navy trousers, black shoes and a brown jacket.

"Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of John."
