Gardai appeal after boy rushed to hospital following hit and run incident at Malahide, Co Dublin

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after a hit and run in Co Dublin.

The youngster was struck as he walked on the Swords Road near Castle Heath, Malahide.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened shortly before 7pm on Tuesday.

The teenager was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle which failed to remain at the scene is described as being a 2005 blue Ford Focus with a Dublin registration. Gardai believe the vehicle was traveling in the direction of Swords at the time.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"In particular, Gardaí are appealing to any motorists who were on the Swords Road at the time of the incident who may have Dash Cam Footage.

"Gardaí are also appealing to the driver or any occupants of the car to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Malahide Garda Station on 016664600, The Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
