Gardai 'anxious' to find number of men who gathered on side of M4 motorway in Co Westmeath

Gardai are "anxious" to find a number of men who were involved in an incident on the side of the N4 motorway on Saturday.

Westmeath gardai are asking for anyone who was on the N4 near Kinnegad between 6:45pm and 7:15pm and may have dashcam footage to come forward.

A number of men gathered in a layby near junction 12 at around 7pm with all of them men travelling in two cars.

One car is described as being a dark blue/grey Skoda; the second car is described as being a small black Opel Corsa or Citroen.

Gardai listed those the following as people who may be able to help their investigation, anyone;

• who was driving close to Junction 12 on the M4 this evening between 6.45pm and 7.15pm.
• who may have camera (dash cam) footage and who were travelling along the M4 motorway (eastbound) this evening between 6.45pm and 7.15pm.
• who may have observed the vehicles, as described above, driving on the M4 this evening between 6.45pm and 7.15pm.

A garda spokesperson said: "Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
