Gardai allegedly catch drug-driver with 'suspected heroin' and 'offensive weapon' in Co Tipperary

Gardai nabbed a driver who allegedly tested positive for drugs and had an "offensive weapon" and "suspected heroin" in their car.

Officers on patrol in Co Tipperary stopped the motorist on Monday night and tested them for drugs.

The driver allegedly tested positive for cocaine and opiates and allegedly had "suspected heroin" and an "offensive weapon" in the vehicle.

Gardai revealed the driver was arrested and will appear in court.

Meanwhile, another driver was stopped at a Covid-19 checkpoint near Kildare where it was discovered they were on a learner permit - which was allegedly 19-years-old.

A tweet on the official Garda Traffic account said: "Driver was driving unaccompanied with a 19 year old learner permit, had no tax or NCT. Now they have a court appearance."
