An investigation is underway after an Irishman died following his release from garda custody.
Danny McCormac was arrested by gardai after an incident at the emergency department of the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, Co Westmeath on Saturday evening.
The 40-year-old Raheen man died later after collapsing at his home following his release from garda custody.

The father-of-three went to the emergency department on Saturday afternoon for chest pains.
But gardai and security staff were called to the hospital following an incident which led to him being removed from the building, RTE reports.
Mr McCormac’s family said that he was bleeding and distressed when he returned to his home later. He collapsed and later died at hospital.
The incident has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Comission for further investigation.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí at Mullingar Co Westmeath last evening (23/3/19) referred the death of a 40 year old man to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
“The man who was taken from his home by Ambulance to the Regional Hospital in Mullingar and pronounced dead at the Hospital had earlier in the evening an interaction with Gardaí at a location in Mullingar."
Authorities will examine the CCTV footage from the hospital and are currently awaiting the results of a post mortem to be carried out on Monday, before formally deciding whether or not to investigate the matter.
