Garda warning after woman followed by 'suspicious' man in quiet Tipperary town

Gardai are appealing for information after the "suspicious approach" of a woman by a man in a car in Co Tipperary.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Monday in the Connolly Park area of Clonmel.

The woman involved was walking from the Poppyfields Industrial Estate when she was approached by the driver of a black car.

He began beeping the horn and stopped the vehicle, gesturing for the woman to come towards him.

The woman ignored this and kept walking towards the Jacksons Cross area, where the driver again stopped and gestured for the woman to come over to him.

Gardai said the woman ignored the "suspicious approaches" and the man quickly drove away.

The woman involved then spoke to two other women who were out walking in the area. Officers are appealing for these two witnesses to come forward and contact gardai.

A spokesman added: "Gardaí are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed either of these two incident or anyone who was driving in the area, particularly road users with dash cam footage, to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052-6177640 or any Garda Station."
