Gardai are reminding the Irish public to be vigilant when it comes to scams with less than two weeks until Christmas.
One member of the force in Co Donegal was targeted by fraudsters on Sunday and urged people to be aware of the key giveaways.
Scams continue to be rampant across Ireland as fraudsters attempt to take people's money or personal information.
One of these scams is from individuals purporting to be Bank of Ireland.
The text messages will contain links that recipients are encouraged to click after they've been erroneously informed there is something awry with their accounts.

The Donegal Garda targeted over the weekend issued key advice to people on what they should do if their receive such a message.
They said on Sunday: "I received this text message this evening. I did not click on the link. I deleted the message.
"I then logged into my online banking account on my banking app to discover that my online access has not been restricted.
"This text message appeared on a thread of genuine messages from my bank.
"Bank of Ireland will never send you a text with a link to a site that asks you for your full 365Online PIN or one-time passcodes or other personal information.
"Never click on a link in an unsolicited text, email or respond to cold callers seeking personal information.
"Never give away personal data like PIN number, card numbers, passwords, one time codes, PPS numbers.
"If you have responded to such a text or paid the scammers, contact your bank immediately for a recall.
"It is also important to report the matter at your local Garda Station."
