Garda rushed to hospital after collision involving patrol car and jeep near Four Mile Bridge, Co Cork

A Garda has been rushed to hospital following a collision involving a patrol car and a jeep in Co Cork.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on Sunday evening on a section of the N22 near Four Mile Bridge.

The garda who was driving the patrol car at the time of the accident was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment for injuries which are described as 'not life-threatening'.

The driver of the jeep did not require medical treatment.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí at Macroom Co Cork are investigating a road traffic collision involving a Garda Roads Policing car and another vehicle at The Four Mile Bridge, Lissarda, Macroom, Co Cork at approximately 6pm, Sunday 8th September 2019.

"The Garda male driver and only occupant has been removed to Cork University Hospital for treatment (injuries not life threatening).

"No other person was injured. Investigations are continuing."
