Garda rushed to hospital after being assaulted by teen at house party in Finglas, Dublin

A garda was rushed to hospital on Saturday after a house party descended into chaos and they were assaulted by a teenager in attendance.

Gardai responded to reports of a party in Finglas, Dublin at around 11.30pm where a row broke out in the front garden of the home on Glenties Drive.

The member of An Garda Siochana remained in the Mater Hospital today, and a 17-year-old was arrested for the assault and was being detained under the Criminal Justice Act, Dublin Live reports.

The party is understood to have been celebrating an 18th birthday and a woman, 18, was arrested and charged under the Public Order Act.

A Garda spokeswoman told the Dublin Live on Sunday: “Gardaí attended to a report of a house party at Glenties Drive, Finglas last night, 27 February, 2021 at approximately 11.30pm.

“During the course of engagement with persons present, one woman (18 years) was arrested under the Public Order Act, and taken to Finglas GS. She was detained and has since been charged.

“During the course of this arrest, a second girl (17 years) assaulted a member of AGS and was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4, CJA, 1984. The Garda member was taken to The Mater Hospital and remains there at present.

“A number of FPNs will be issued in due course. Investigations ongoing.”
