Garda raid sees cash, cars, jewellery and drugs seized by Criminal Assets Bureau in major Dublin and Meath sting

Drugs, cash, high end vehicles and expensive jewellery were among items seized by gardai yesterday as they raided premises across Dublin and Meath.

There were two men arrested following the operation targeting organised crime and they were being held in Ballymun and Ashbourne garda stations last night.

During the sting ten locations in Dublin, Duleek and Trim were searched including both residential and business premises.

Among the items found was €60k in cash, a kilo of cannabis resin worth around €20k, four high end vehicles and a number of expensive jewellery items.

The search took place as part of ongoing investigations into people suspected to be involved with organised crime.

A garda spokesman said: "On 10/04/2021, as part of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime, personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Criminal Assets Bureau supported by the Garda Dog Unit and the Stolen Motor Vehicle Unit conducted a search operation.

"Ten locations in the Duleek, Trim and Dublin areas consisting of both residential and business premises were searched as part of this operation.

"Gardaí have discovered and seized €60,000 in cash and 1kg of Cannabis Resin (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of €20,000. Four high value vehicles as well as a number of high value jewellery items and other property was also seized.

"Two men, aged in their 30s and 50s, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in money laundering and are currently detained at Ballymun and Ashbourne Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984."
