Garda probe under way after body recovered from River Lee in Cork

A garda probe is under way after a body was recovered from the water in Cork city last night.

Gardai are investigating "all the circumstances" after a body was recovered from the River Lee along Union Quay at around 10pm on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene last night and the body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place, the results of which will determine the course of the garda investigation.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the recovery of a body from the River Lee on Union Quay, Cork city, yesterday, 13th March 2023 at approximately 10pm.

"The body was removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
