A probe has been launched after nine mobile homes were deliberately set on fire at a busy family holiday park in Co Wexford.
Gardai say they are investigating an incident of 'criminal damage' after a blaze destroyed nine mobile homes and a moving truck at the Parklands Holdiday Park near Courtown, Co Wexford.
It is understood that the fire broke out at around 3.30am on Wednesday morning in the sales yard of the park.
While the park is busy with summer tourists, nobody was injured during the incident.
A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at approximately 3.30am on Wednesday 10 July 2019 at a Caravan Park in Courtown Harbour, Wexford.
"It’s believed a number of mobile homes, which were unoccupied at the time, were damaged.
"No injuries were reported.
"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
In a Facebook post Parklands Bar & Eatery assured the public that the destroyed homes were unoccupied at the time of the fire.
They said: "NO CUSTOMERS MOBILE HOMES WERE DAMAGED when there was a fire in the sales yard last night.
"The fire was started between 3/3:30am and nine mobile homes were destroyed and a mobile home moving truck.
"Anyone with any information or may have seen anything suspicious please contact Gorey Garda station."
A similar incident occurred at the same holiday complex a little over a year ago. Last May, three mobile homes were completely destroyed after a deliberate fire broke out.
No injuries were reported in last year's incident.
