Garda officers take part in cycle from Dublin to Kilkenny for three charities

Over 60 current and past Garda officers are taking part in an epic cycle from Dublin to Kilkenny on Thursday.

Members of the force from the H District in Dublin will start their 130km gruelling trek from Ballymun in a bid to raise much needed funds for three charities, Aware, National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) and Pieta House.

The cycle is being organised primarily to encourage and promote an awareness of Mental & Physical Wellbeing within the ‘H’ District which covers three station areas - Ballymun, Santry and Dublin Airport.

Officers have been training hard for the event over the last few months with tough cycles up the Wicklow mountains and to the Beara Peninsula.

The cyclists and 15 support crew left Ballymun Garda Station this morning at 8am and hope to arrive at Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel between 4pm and 5pm.

Over €4,500 has already been raised by those taking part.

Anyone who would like to make a donation can do so at by using the GoFundMe link here .
