Garda motorway sting operation sees €200,000 seized and two arrested

Two men are being quizzed after €200,000 was found during a Garda motorway sting operation in west Dublin today.

Officers made the massive cash discovery when they swooped on a vehicle being driven on the M4 around 7.30am.

They found cash to the value of €200,000.

The seizure came as part of an ongoing investigation targeting serious organised criminal activity.

Two men, aged 24 and 47, were arrested for the offence of money laundering under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010.

A Garda spokeperson said: “Both men are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Lucan Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing.”
