Garda left with facial injuries after assault at apartment in Dundalk, Co Louth

A garda received facial injuries after being assaulted at an apartment block in Co Louth.

The male garda received the injury after responding to a call at the Bakehouse Apartments in Dundalk at approximately 5.05pm on Thursday evening.

The injured officer was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he is being treated.

A garda spokesperson told The Irish Daily Mirror: "One male in his fifties has been arrested in relation to the assault."

"A second male has been arrested for Public Order matters and has been detained at Dundalk Garda Station."
