Garda investigation underway after man is assaulted twice in two hours in Dundalk, Co Louth

A garda investigation is underway after a man was assaulted twice in the space of two hours.

The two incidents happened at the same house in Bay Estate, Dundalk, Co Louth, sometime between 4pm and 6pm on Friday.

Gardai had confirmed that they were investigating the "assault of male in his 40s that occurred at a property in Bay Estate, Dundalk at approximately 4pm on Friday 15th May."

But just two hours later, a second assault occurred at the same property.

Gardai said no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.

They confirmed that the property was damaged during both incidents.

Local TD Ruairi O’Murchú, who lives in Dundalk, condemned the attacks.

He said: "These are reckless and dangerous attacks.

"It showed the audacity of the attackers who thought nothing of coming into a quiet, built-up residential area to attack a house where there were children, in broad daylight, not once, but twice.

“I say to those who carried out this attack – there is no good ending to this and no justification whatsoever.

"There is a need for calm as further violence is certainly not the solution. I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact Gardaí in Dundalk or the Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”
