Three people are set to appear in court in relation to a Garda investigation into insurance "Ghost Brokers".
Two men and one woman, all aged in their 40s, were arrested this morning in relation to a probe involving fraudulently obtaining motor insurance policies.
The trio have been charged and are due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court.
A Garda spokeswoman said: "An Garda Síochána Special Investigations Unit attached to the DMR Roads Policing Unit, Dublin Castle who are conducting an ongoing investigation surrounding the activities of Insurance "Ghost Brokers” involved in fraudulently obtaining Motor Insurance Policies within this jurisdiction, have this morning Thursday 29th April, 2021 arrested three persons, (two men in their 40s and one woman in her 40s).
"All three persons have been charged in relation to this investigation and are due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court.
"Special Investigations Unit, DMR Roads Policing Division has worked closely with a number of Insurance Companies over the past number of years and as a direct result of this investigation, in excess of 2,500 Motor Insurance Policies have been identified as fraudulently obtained Motor Insurance Policies through Ghost Broking activities."
