A Garda hunt is underway to find a 'suspicious' man who mugged a woman after apparently hanging around the area for hours looking for potential victims.
The dangerous thief spotted his target on Bray's Herbert Road on Saturday evening and stole her purse in a frightening attack.
The incident took place in broad daylight near the junction with King Edward Road on the Dublin/Wicklow border.
Investigating officers carried out several house inquiries following the incident where locals made some concerns about a man they had spotted earlier in the day.
Various residents said they had seen a man acting suspiciously in the area earlier in the day on Saturday but did not feel the need to report it.
A Garda spokesman said: "We are investigating a theft that occurred on May 16 at approximately 7:20pm on Herbert Road.
"During the incident, a purse was stolen. No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.
"Anyone with information can contact Bray Garda Station on 01-6665300 or on the confidential line on 1800-666111."
