Garda hunt for man who tried to get girl, 11, to leave her garden and go 'for walk' with him

Gardai are investigating after an 11-year-old girl was approached by a strange man who allegedly tried to lead her out of out of her home to "go for a walk".

Officers are on the hunt after the scary incident which happened at a house near Mahon Point on Monday.

The little girl had been playing in her front garden before she was approached by the large man who was wearing a t-shirt with a cartoon character on it, navy tracksuit bottoms, and sandals, CorkBeo reports.

Luckily her mother came out and took her daughter away before then bravely running after the man and snapping a picture.

The incident was reported to gardai and anyone with information is asked to get in contact with investigators at Anglesea St Station.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a suspicious approach incident that occurred at approximately 11am on the 27th July, 2020 at Jacobs Island, Blackrock, Co. Cork.

"Gardaí carried out a patrol of the area after the incident was reported but no arrests were made.

"Investigation ongoing."
