Garda ends up in hospital after patrol car smashes into wall during dramatic Dublin chase

A Garda officer has ended up in hospital after a dramatic chase through Dublin saw a patrol car collide with a wall while in pursuit of a cyclist who was caught in a drugs bust.

The shocking incident unfolded on Thursday night in Dublin 6.

Cocaine and cannabis worth a combined value of €5,000 were seized after the chase.

A male cyclist, aged 24, was arrested following the operation.

But that wasn't before he tried to escape the officers at around 7pm on Thursday evening.

He had been requested to stop by Gardaí, but evaded the patrol car.

In the course of the operation, the Garda patrol car stuck a wall.

One member of AGS was taken to St. James Hospital as a precaution. The driver of the Garda car was uninjured.

The man was taken to Rathmines station for questioning. Enquires are ongoing.
