Garda dog Rex sniffs out €53,000 worth of heroin at a house in Grenagh, Cork

A man was arrested after €53,000 worth of heroin was seized at a house in Co Cork.

The find was made after a property in the Grenagh area was searched at around 3pm on Wednesday.

As part of the search, garda dog Rex located €53,000 worth of suspected heroin on the property.

The drugs will now be sent for analysis.

The search was carried out by Gardai from the drugs unit in the Cork city, with the assistance of the southern region dog unit and Gardai from Blarney.

A garda spokesman said: "A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and brought to Gurranabraher Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996."
