Garda checkpoints: Learner driver arrested after breaking four rules including major law

A learner driver found themselves in hot water after they were stopped by the gardai in north Dublin.

Officers had set up a checkpoint in Clontarf when they came across the driver on Saturday night.

And for this driver, the night before Halloween took a horror turn, when they broke four of those rules, including a major law, in one go, the Irish Mirror reports.

A Garda spokesperson explained: "This car was stopped at Saturday night MIT checkpoint on Alfie Byrne Road by DMR Roads Policing Division.

"Motorist had no insurance, tax or NCT and was driving on a learner permit unaccompanied.

"They were arrested after failing a roadside drugs test for cannabis. Car was impounded."
