Motorists are being warned to be extra careful on roads this weekend after six people died in the space of just 24 hours earlier this week.
Four people died in a horror Galway crash on Thursday after two men were killed in a collision in Meath on Wednesday.
And gardai are asking all motorists to be safe this weekend with horrid weather conditions also expected.
A garda spokesperson said: "Following the deaths of six road users in the last 24 hours, An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) are issuing an urgent appeal to all road users to take greater care on the roads.
"Hazardous road conditions are likely in the coming days as Met Eireann has issued weather warnings for heavy rain-fall and localised flooding."
Forecasters are predicting heavy rain and high winds all day Saturday before some slightly improved conditions for Sunday.
From midday, Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan are all under status yellow rain and thunderstorm warning until 8pm tonight.
Experts are forecasting "scattered heavy showers with localised thundery downpours will give a risk of spot flooding".
The west won't go completely untouched however with scattered showers also hitting.
