A truck driver has been arrested after they allegedly tried to evade a garda checkpoint in Cork City.
Gardai from the Cork City Road Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint with the Road Safety Authority when the driver spotted officers and attempted to flee, gardai said.
Gardai engaged in a short chase and eventually caught up to the driver and said that they had no driver card on them.
The driver was then charged for dangerous driving, driving without a driver card and for tachograph offences.
The driver is set to appear in court.
A garda spokesperson said: “Truck tried to evade the checkpoint and was eventually stopped following a short pursuit.
"Driver arrested and charged for dangerous driving, driving without a driver card and tachograph offences.”
