The Gardai and the Road Safety Authority have been busy over the last 24 hours with a number of offenders caught at various checkpoints around Ireland.
Motorists caught without insurance, a correct driving licence, adequate tyres, and under the influence of drugs and alcohol were detected.

Cork
Cork City Road Policing Unit and Road Safety Ireland conducted checkpoints yesterday in Cork City.
One truck was seized for having no insurance and the driver did not have the correct Driving Licence category. Another truck was required to replace two tyres before continuing on its journey.
In Fermoy, numerous checkpoints were carried out by the District and Divisional Units working together. A driver was arrested after testing positive for cannabis.
Numerous road traffic offences detected.
Laois
Laois Roads Policing Unit were on patrol in south Laois when they stopped a tractor and trailer after observing the driver on the phone.
It was found that the driver was an unaccompanied learner. A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued.
Tipperary
Tipperary Roads Policing Unit carried out a Multi-agency checkpoint in Roscrea with the RSA, Social Welfare and Revenue today.
A heavy goods vehicle was stopped and it was found that it had no tachograph chart, no CPC and a number of defects including broken trailer lights and a cracked windscreen.
Clonmel Gardaí were conducting a checkpoint in Fethard when they stopped a driver that proceeded to fail a breath test and were arrested. Proceedings to follow.
Waterford
Waterford Roads Policing Unit detected several vehicles travelling above the limit of 50kph in Waterford Village yesterday. They were stopped and Fixed Charge Penalty Notices to all. Proceedings to follow.
