One Garda unit had an incredibly busy time recently after catching multiple motorists for driving under the influence of drugs at a checkpoint.
Officers attached to the Naas station in Kildare conducted a number of checkpoints, and ended up arrested a number of drivers for a multitude of offences.
First up, the road policing unit nabbed one road user for driving under the influence of drugs.
A Garda statement said: "Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint in Naas recently when they stopped this motorist. They tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. They were arrested. Proceedings to follow."
Shortly after that, officers at a checkpoint found an unaccompanied learner driver.
On top of that, they also failed a drug test,
Another Garda statement said: "Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint in Allenwood recently when the stopped this driver. They were found to be an unaccompanied Learner driver, and they also tested positive for cannabis. They were arrested and their car was seized."
Separately, in Rathfarnham, Gardai focused on parking offences - catching two road users for breaking the law while parked.
