A driver was arrested after failing an unusual test at a garda checkpoint over the weekend.
The incident happened in Kilkenny on Sunday morning.
Operation Fanacht checkpoints set up to enforce Covid-19 restrictions remain in place up and down the country as part of the Level Five measures.
There will be more than 2,500 uniformed gardai on duty each day during the six-week lockdown.
And officers in Kilkenny revealed yesterday that they had carried out an "oral fluid test" on one motorist, which saw them test positive for cocaine and cannabis.
They were arrested and a court appearance is expected to follow as gardai wait for the results of a blood test.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí in Kilkenny and Carlow continue to conduct checkpoints in both Counties, engaging with motorists.
"Kilkenny Gardaí tested one driver this morning at an #OperationFanacht checkpoint, an oral fluid test proved positive for cocaine and cannabis.
"Driver arrested and results of blood specimen awaited. Court proceedings to follow.
"Never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant."
