Gardai arrested a learner driver after the motorist broke three major laws at one stop.
Officers were stationed on the N5 at Longford recently when they noticed a car speeding along with 100km/h road.
They subsequently pulled it over, only to discover that there were a number of other problems.
A spokesperson explained: "Longford Roads Policing Unit stopped this car on the N5 in Longford for driving 149km in a 100km zone.
"Driver was also driving on a Learner Permit unaccompanied by a qualified driver & tested positive for Cannabis.
"Driver arrested & vehicle seized. Proceedings to follow."
The penalty for drug driving is the same as for drink driving – a maximum of €5,000 fine and up to 6 months imprisonment on summary conviction.
If you drive over the speed limit, you will get 3 penalty points and a fixed charge fine of €80. If you do not pay the fine within 28 days, it increases to €120.
If you drive unaccompanied, you are committing an offence. This offence carries an €80 fine and 2 penalty points. If you do not pay the fine and are summoned to court, you could be fined €120 and get 4 penalty points.
It means this motorist, who doesn't even have their full license yet, already has five penalty points.
