Garda checkpoints Ireland: Officers alerted to car after it collided with bus as driver attempts to trick gardai

Gardai found one person sitting in the back of a car that had collided with a bus in Waterford over the weekend.

Officers followed the vehicle after it was detected speeding in the city

However, upon getting to the car, they saw the driver hopping into the back seat, and leaving the car hit a bus as it came to a stop.

After being tested, the driver then returned a positive drugs test and will face a court sitting at a later date.

A garda spokesperson said: "Waterford RPU recently detected this car exceeding the speed limit. In coming to a stop for Gardaí the driver climbed into the back seat as the car struck a parked bus. The driver returned a positive drugs test for Cannabis & had no Insurance. Court to follow."
