Garda checkpoints Ireland: Driver nabbed with no tax for almost a year has vehicle seized

One of the most important things among a driver's to do list is to ensure they have their vehicle taxed.

Not only is it a legal necessity before you take to the wheel, there are penalties for allowing your renewal to pass.

So when the Dublin Metropolitan Region roads policing unit were on patrol in the capital recently, they had no choice but to stop a driver who let it slip...just a little bit.

They were stopped for having no road tax for 339 days - less than two weeks short of an entire year without the necessity.

As a result the driver has their vehicle seized and now face a day in court.

Gardai said: "DMR Roads Policing Unit on patrol stopped this vehicle which had no tax for 339 days! Vehicle seized and proceedings to follow."

A costly mistake to make!
