Almost a dozen motorists were arrested after being caught by gardai at the same checkpoint in recent days.
Members of the force in the Cavan and Monaghan region carried out the operation on Saturday and Sunday.
As a result of the stop, ten road users were arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Another motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Following the operation, gardai issued an appeal to the public as the roads get busier during Christmas week.
A spokesperson said: "Over the weekend, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 December, there was a total of ten drivers arrested on suspicion of drink driving in the Cavan Monaghan Garda Division and one arrest was made for drug driving also in that two day period.
"Next weekend as we all know is Christmas and we are appealing to drivers not to get behind the wheel when under the influence of either drink or drugs.
"We will have increased visibility on our roads in an effort to keep our road users safe so please don't risk your life or that of others."
Gardai across the country have been busy in recent days conducting checkpoints on the nation's roads.
In Co Kildare, Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted a multi-agency checkpoint recently.
One motorist was arrested for driving disqualified, while their car and two other vehicles were seized.
Elsewhere, the Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit conducted a checkpoint with the Road Safety Authority and the Food Safety Authority in recent days.
Three vehicles were seized for a variety of road traffic offences during the operation.
