Garang Kuol says he can't wait to get started at Hearts after penning a loan deal until the end of the season. The young 18-year-old only officially signed for Newcastle at the start January, but a pre-contract agreement had been in place for some time.
The young forward was part of the Australia squad that reached the knockout stages of the World Cup in Qatar last year, with many Newcastle fans keeping a close eye on his development. Having made just a handful of senior appearances in Australia, Kuol will get his first taste of senior football in the UK with the Scottish Premiership side.
Speaking to Hearts TV, Kuol said: "I'm very happy to be here, I can't wait to play here in front of the amazing fans. I just thought the team is a great team, great club, great history, beautiful stadium and great fans.

"Also, the gaffer. He swayed me with his plan to come in and join the boys and my development path. I think it was a very good decision. The club's ambition, their goals and I thought I wanted to be involved."
Kuol will link up with a strong Australian contingent at Tynecastle, something he's looking forward to doing. He added: "I know Kye [Rowles], he was at the Mariners when I was there and he was one of the senior players there. He was a great guy and helped me, I've known him for a while.
"Cammy [Devlin] is a great lad. I met him around September and had a great connection with him straight away. Of course it does [help settle in with Australian's in the squad] but at the same time, meeting the lads, they seem great and I can't wait to know them more.
"I would say I'm a player that tries to be positive. Get the ball forward and work hard for my team-mates, score goals and get assists to help the team. I can't wait to play in front of these unreal fans and score a goal in front of them at Tynecastle. I've done a tour of the place, the city with Joe Savage. I got to know the place and I can't wait to learn more.
