Parking space near seaside beauty spot on the market for £100k

A single parking space in the heart of St Ives in Cornwall has been put on the market with a guide price of £99,950.

The 4.5m x 2m bay is one of 16 spaces in a private garage in The Digey, just around the corner from Porthmeor Beach and the Tate art gallery.

It is thought to be the most expensive parking space in the UK outside of London, where one in Knightsbridge hit the market in January with an asking price of £350,000, reports CornwallLive.

The £100k lease, with a £400-a-year service charge on top, runs until the year 2998.

Estate agents Harding Laity describe the space as a "highly prized acquisition", adding it is "the perfect base to explore the coastal town of St Ives from".

It said: "This private undercover parking space is a stone's throw away from local beaches, restaurants and coastal walks.

"The Tate, Porthmeor Beach, coastal path, Fore Street and the harbour are all within a short walk of this perfectly positioned parking space, removing the hassle of limited parking during peak seasons and providing a shelter from the coastal winds in the winter."

Properties in St Ives had an overall average price of £463,884 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

That compares with the national average of £248,857 in August 2021.

In June, a single tarmacked patch in a small car park overlooking Porthminster Beach in St Ives sold for £45,000.
