Garage burglaries reported in Washington Heights and Roseland: police

5 garages have been burglarized in Washington Heights in June and July, according to Chicago police.

Chicago police are warning Washington Heights and Roseland residents of five garage burglaries reported in June and July.

In each incident, the offender used a light-colored pickup truck to ram into the garage door, broke in and took bicycles, tools and lawn equipment, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

These incidents happened June 30 in the 10100 block of South Emerald Avenue and July 1 in the 10600 block of South Emerald Avenue, the 11000 block of South Lowe Avenue, the 10400 block of South Peoria Street and the 10500 block of South Sangamon Street, police said. The burglaries happened between 5 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
