Garage apprentice caught on dashcam going to Greggs in customer's car

Shocking dashcam footage shows two garage workers take a customers car to Greggs.

The video was discovered by car owner Carl Ivers, who witnessed an apprentice and a mechanic rocket over speed humps, drive without seat belts and park in a disabled bay.

The workers took the Punto to the Greggs to get their lunches.

Chronicle Live reported that Carl had left his car at Causeway Garage in Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, to get his timing belt changed.

But instead of fixing his car, workers went on a test drive.

The garage boss has said the apprentice has been sacked and the mechanic is on a final warning.

On the footage you can hear the driver high-rev the car. Then one of the lads can be heard saying "feel the power, feel the f*****g roar".

Then they notice the dashcam and one says: "He’s got a dashcam, he’s probably hearing everything we’re saying...he’s seeing us getting our dinner."

A spokesman for the garage said: "The lads went on a test drive with the car and they decided to kill two birds with one stone and go and get their dinners.

"When I saw the dashcam footage I pulled the lads into the office and went ape with them.

"The apprentice has been sacked because of his attitude and the mechanic is on a final written warning and he is not allowed to do test drives anymore.

"I have offered to do other work for the customer and not charge him for labour, I think he is looking for something for nothing.

"We have built this business up for many years and we are gutted that this has happened through no fault of management but down to individual staff."
