Gannett, the acquisitive media chain, has agreed to pay $180m to buy Atlanta's WATL-TV station from another media giant, Tribune. It means that Gannett, owner of USA Today and a string of papers across the States and in Britain, will have two TV stations in Atlanta. Tribune, owner of papers in Chicago and Los Angeles plus 26 TV stations, said the sale was part of its strategy to boost its stock price. (Via USATODAY.com Money - Top Stories)
