UJJAIN: The Narcotics Control Bureau has seized 1,376 kg of ganja worth around Rs 1.65 crore from a truck and arrested two persons for attempting to smuggle the banned substance to Andhra Pradesh in Tarana area of Ujjain district.
Acting on a tip-off, the NCB team with Tarana police intercepted the truck bearing Rajasthan registration plates with ganja hidden under the sacks of paddy husk between Tarana and Kanasia area on Sunday.
Tarana police station in-charge Sanjay Mandloi said the ganja seized during the operation was priced Rs 1,65 crore in the international market.
Two persons, both residents of Ujjain district, were arrested and booked under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The truck carrying the contraband was also seized.
The accused were produced before a special court and sent on a day-long judicial remand.
