Ganja worth over Rs 1 crore seized on Hyderabad outskirts, 10 arrested

HYDERABAD: In a huge haul, 470 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.2 crore was seized in eastern parts of Hyderabad at Pasumamula village in Rangareddy district on Monday. Ten inter-state smugglers, who were transporting the contraband from AP’s East Godavari to Mumbai, were caught by Hayathnagar police. Two others gave police the slip.

After purchasing the ganja at Rs 3,000 per kg in the Agency area of East Godavari, the accused were planning to sell the contraband to customers at Rs 20,000 per kg, police said. The smugglers were shipping the ganja in two cars when they were caught on the outskirts of Pasumamula near ORR following a tip-off. Among the arrested were two women.

Police were checking vehicles and the cars transporting the contraband were stopped during the search and the ganja was seized.

Rachakonda police named the accused as Naikam Rahul of Alluri Seetharama Raju district, C Srikanth of Yadadri, Shaik Nawazuddin of Sangareddy, Akash Kumar and Vinayak of Bidar district in Karnataka, Banavath Naga of Nalgonda, Gowlikar Sai Ajay of Borabanda in Hyderabad, Sainath Chowhan of Medak and Jeripothula Ravi and Domatio Sangeetha of Medchal district. Raju and Sanyasi Rao, both belonging to East Godavari, are on the run. “Srikanth, Chowhan, Ajay and Sangeetha went to a village in Donkarai Agency area in two cars and met Rahul and procured 470 kg of ganja from Raju and Sanyasi Rao. They left Donkarai to reach Mumbai via Hyderabad. While they were on their way, we caught them.” a copsaid.
